HSBC Asset Management Appoints Asia Wholesale Head
HSBC Asset Management (HSBC AM) appoints Charles Li as Head of Wholesale Business, Asia, effective 1 September and subject to regulatory approval.
In this newly created role, Charles will be responsible for covering all wholesale clients in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, India, Japan and South East Asia. In addition to leading the Wholesale Sales and Client Servicing teams in the region, Charles will also be responsible for setting and delivering the firm’s wholesale strategy.
Charles brings over 20 years of asset management experience and joins from UBS Asset Management where he was Head of Global Wealth Management Client Coverage, APAC and Deputy Head Asset Management (Hong Kong). He was accountable for formulating the business development and product strategies while leading the Client Coverage teams across APAC (i.e., Hong Kong, Singapore, mainland China, Taiwan and Japan). Prior to this he held senior roles at Fortis Investment Management Asia, PCI Investment Management and Allianz Global Investors.
Charles will be based in Hong Kong, reporting to Thorsten Michalik, Global Head of Wholesale as well as locally to Daisy Ho, Chief Executive Officer, Asia-Pacific and Hong Kong.

Alison Brown, Head of Sales, Wholesale Business, Hong Kong and China, will be taking on a new role within HSBC AM to be announced later this year.
Daisy said: “We would like to thank Alison for her leadership and significant contribution to the wholesale business in Hong Kong and mainland China. Since joining us in 2015, Alison has been instrumental in expanding the external network of distributors and supporting the launch of over 20 funds.”
