2022 Business Update
Message from our Chief Executive Officer – Nicolas Moreau
I would like to update you on our contribution and the steps we’re taking to ensure we continue to deliver for our clients.
How we’re performing
I’m proud to say we have achieved a strong set of results, demonstrating the momentum that continues to build in the business. Our AUM has reached USD640bn as of 31 December, with USD28bn and USD19bn in net new client money for YTD and Q4 respectively. Our AUM is now split as follows:
Notes:
1. Assets Under Management are presented on a Distributed (AUD) basis
2. Other in Asset Class refers to HASE (USD23bn at 4Q21)
3. Above view includes Associates (i.e. Jintrust) and presented on Reported Fx rates
4. Increase in AMG Other (Client Type) reflects Jintrust assets who stopped providing underlying client type split starting Q4'21
However, our results are more than the numbers. We’ve continued opening up a world of opportunity – for our clients and our people – through innovative product offerings and initiatives. This includes the creation of HSBC Alternatives, a Sustainability Office and our ETF and Indexing business, a number of key strategic hires, significant progress in our eight strategic growth initiatives, and a large number of new products and solutions.
We’ve demonstrated commitment to our growth plans with the agreement to fully acquire L&T Investment Management in India – a move that scales up our India business from an AUM of USD1bn to USD11bn and positions us just outside top 10. This is a strategically important acquisition for us and a major step towards becoming a leading asset manager in Asia Pacific, in line with HSBC’s Asia Wealth ambitions.
We’ve also continued to make progress on our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) initiative – we now have over 220 volunteers across 10 work streams in 14 different locations. Our progress is demonstrated by a number of external accolades, including three wins at the 2021 Women in Investments Awards in the UK and the ‘Best Gender Representation’ win at Citywire’s Gender Diversity Awards for the second year running. We also ranked third out of all large asset managers for having the highest number of female fund managers in the Citywire Alpha Female 2021 report.
Thank you for choosing HSBC Asset Management.
