HSBC Asset Management appoints Head of Asia Multi-Asset

01 June 2022

HSBC Asset Management (“HSBC AM”) announces that it has appointed Yiğit Onat as Head of Multi-Asset, Asia, effective 20 June 2022. Based in Hong Kong, Yiğit Onat will report functionally to Jean Charles Bertrand, Global Multi-Asset Chief Investment Officer (“CIO”), and locally to Cecilia Chan, Asia Pacific CIO.

Subject to regulatory approval, Yiğit will be responsible for the multi-asset team in Hong Kong, which manages HSBC AM’s flagship life cycle, income and MPF multi-asset solutions. He will lead a team of six multi-asset investment professionals located in Hong Kong and be supported by more than 70 professionals in 14 countries and territories.

Yiğit brings with him over 20 years of investment experience, most recently as CIO for HSBC AM Turkey where he led a team of 10 portfolio managers and investment analysts focusing on globally-diversified wealth management and multi-asset investment funds for pension and insurance companies. Prior to that, Yiğit was Head of Equities in Turkey and lead manager of the HSBC GIF Turkey Equity Fund.

Jean Charles Bertrand said: "Multi-asset is a key component of our long-term growth strategy in delivering investment excellence to our clients. With over two decades of experience in managing global portfolios including investments in Asian markets, Yiğit is best placed to develop our range of solutions in Asia and bring value to our clients. We are very pleased to have him lead our multi-asset team in Hong Kong and contribute to our global multi-asset investment decisions.”

Yiğit will succeed Denis Gould, who currently leads the Multi-Asset & Wealth team in Hong Kong and will retire from HSBC AM on 31 August 2022 after a successful career.

Jean Charles added: “We would like to express our gratitude towards Denis, who has been instrumental in the success of our multi-asset solutions in Asia where our assets (on AUD basis) have nearly doubled to about USD60bn over the last five years.”
